Here's a late but needed update! I started a Freelance project over the summer but my time is up for that now. I'm updating all my old work to give them the "portfolio worthy polish". I also have a new website going live in about a week. Here's a test render I'm getting ready for a Mini environment, Im placing this…

Wow that's looking great. I did the same locale for a freelance job, making simplified-view cutaway maps so they could rent their interiors for events. http://ericchadwick.com/img/architectural_arsenalstadium.jpg I think yours looks a lot better! Nice attention to detail. I remember it was really difficult to find decent…
Sorry for not searching I did google many Unity vs UDK websites most boiled down to "whatever works for you". Also I've been freelancing on a game in unity and I can see that it could be set up to be really good but it doesn't come out-of-the-box beautiful and was just wondering if UDK was easier to manage these sorts of…
i mean i want my portfolio to show that i can work in detailed and efficient ways so i want to get the most detail at the same time i get the best polycount, so i guess ill make different models for different target platforms, im just getting started to freelance and i wanna get my portfolio right
I agree we see a lot more professional users using blender these days. I always felt max is a strong(est) archviz tool, that has been hijacked to do other stuff. And the archviz user base is huge. Now for game artists, freelancers, blender is a serious challenger. I dont doubt i ll learn to use it one day, if not replacing…
I'm a 3d artist with over three years industry experience and would be very interested in hearing more on the oppotunities for freelance work available with your studio (I'm guessing you're based in the USA and I live in the UK). You can find my online portfolio here http://www.wazgrafix.com Please feel free to contact me…
The overwhelming answer to this is going to be no. Houdini is extremely expensive for studios and offers no benefits over max or maya in terms of modeling for 99.9% of 3d artists. Sure, you'll get the occasional freelancer or someone from a particularly unusual studio pop up and say they use it exclusively for building…
I actually need to retract the thing about the roads. Roads are paid for by the gas tax, and as such isn't applicable to what I said. Paying for a road to make a business perform better is exactly like me buying a new graphics card for my computer so I can freelance more effectively. Someone using their property how they…
Thanks for the responses. Its good to get a few opinions. I agree it would suck to have some diva coming in and want to only do hero stuff. Neox: So you freelance as an artist for both film and games? Do you think it doesn't matter if your from film as long as your have character/creature work to show your a candidate for…
