There are fantastic tutorials for Zbrush on Digital tutors (the angry worm is a great example) that will help, some of their tutorials extend to substance painter also. Although, don't get locked into endless tutorials without putting your new skills to use. After each tutorial take what you have learnt and apply it too… -

All you need to do is take a photograph of the place you're going to do the work, from the angle you want it to be viewed, then draw on top of the photo and transform the drawing into a square shape (easy with photoshop, there's probably a traditional method of doing it which takes longer though). I took the lookdev class and it was not worth it. It is around $600 for one class, which is absurd. You can get all basic info on these programs and practices for $45 at Digital Tutors or Gnomon DVD's. Anything technically advanced can be learned at FHPHD for 1/3 of the cost. I can animate... with a pencil and many sheets of paper...and/or toonboom studio.... I didn't much enjoy digital as much as traditional, but it was on my list of things to learn.
