Solved the problem by setting the "format" in the options for the texture to "truecolor". Note to self: please try the basic settings first before taking to strange religious practices to try and solve the problem, thanks.
currently at this stage. will add some more minor details over time and then start unwrapping. I wanted to fake a lot with textures but decided to take this as a nice little modelling practice instead.
I'm happy with this outcome. She's seriously too cute... Again, no clue if I'll have time to do anything but practice but hey. Looking forward to seeing everyone else's take on her.

If you want better presentations, maybe it should be those speaking should spend time practicing. Though the time before E3 is crunch time so I don't see how.
I think it depends on how much money ppl are going to spend on it... as well as its practicality. Militaristic style probably be more angular. And there's futuristic style everything is kinda sleek and rounded.
I'm not doing furniture for freelance now but I'm getting ready for this. The problem is that I'm already doing basic blockout and still results are subpar for my taste. I think it will come with practice.
Personally in terms of tech artists we're moving from script monkeys to proper tool development with software engineering practices. So maybe showing the process of the tool development would be good.
