I made power tools at Black and Decker for 5 years with another 5 years on the dole to top it off. That was when I still thought I was gonna be a rockstar though. When that didn't pan out I went for plan B which was videogames.
I don't have a powerful enough computer handle so much high poly grass.. kratos sulution doesnt work for me because i need to bake the highpoly mesh to a lowpoly uv mapped mesh with multiple uv islands, not to a texture plane.
kanga - Thanks man! Substance is super powerful! Sammy101 - about 1 month so far, but it makes sense to me like "smart obejects and photoshop filtering to blend textures...veerrrry similar. roboy - I can show some stuff soon! Thanks!
Another thing I noticed : power users relying on middle-mouse scrolling cannot do so on the main forum index page, since the whole surface is clickable (as opposed to just the titles being clickable). A minor issue, but I thought I'd mention it.
While H2's campaign wasn't the best, the Multiplayer was among some of the best online experiences I've ever had. It was so much better before we had the addition of all these power-ups and armor abilities. If anything, ODST's campaign was far worse.
What's a noob tube? I started working on the power supply objects. I'm not happy with them though, they already look too futuristic, and deviate from my sketch. Strap looks too narrow as well. So I'll be redoing them from scratch.
Okay first. Use smooth edges when possible because the model becomes ugly. Have a concept! All mayor parts feels seperated without real function and the power pack and shell looking cheap like scaling x=1 y=0.5
if its for something like a light, you may want to do somewhat of a gradient transition for it. that way when its plugged into the emissive, anything that is grey will not cover the texture, and if you have a hotspot (completely white), it will. then you can play with the power of it in the static mesh properties.
Roadkill is nice, but i still prefer maya 2008 unfold. The only bonus features roadkill has are uvs deformation feedback and new unfold algorithm ( comparing to maya ) But he can't do horizontal/vertical unfold which is powerful and unfold selection only... :/
The feet look a little small to me, not long enough, could be just the angle though. And the canister on his mask is over powering his whole face, I would scale that back a bit. The level is coming together nicely. looking forward to seeing it complete :)
