Re: Traditional 2D art is... weird
Sounds like the course (at least in these initial stages) is about how to design an image. Tackle the task at hand - don't focus so much on drawing 'things' but just making that page look interesting. When designing it's best to think in terms of shapes, negative space, contrast, tension, repetition, size etc. -

Thx for reply Xaltar.I did not tried to follow the concept peice because the contest consists of many characters united by the style and idea.so i went my own way with the concept because i have an idea for the whole chess set and the initial of the concept does not fit to my topic of the chess set -

Looks hard to do with a finger, if only you could use a stylus. It's not the initial price of an iPhone that keeps me away, it's the gigantic monthly payment and 3 year lock-in. :( I do really want one bad. So I can browse polycount from anywhere! I have no laptop. -

Just to echo Mr. Jukes here: also had a phone chat with a rep from Adventure Recruitment today (about four months after being initially contacted by another rep via email, as I mentioned earlier) and my impressions are positive, but I also must agree that their website is horrible. -

I have to say when i initially tried it i was'nt a fan it crashed quite a few times and not having the ability to add multiple reference models and switch between them was a shame. However i find myself using it frequently now, and it has a welcome place in my process pipeline. -

I think it would look good filled with the flesh tone he used initially. Then do a real subtle reference to a mouth and nose. The new card is definitely an improvement. The A and R don't really bother me. The contact info should go on top somewhere though, so it will look more balanced. -

Updated my numbers since the first time around I did not allow ZBrush to initialize the session before running the test. Canvas size does seem to make a difference. Anyway that looks like pretty decent multi core utilization to me. Would have expected way worse! :smile: -

No, I mean like taking low poly primitives and geo and booleaning your way to an initial low poly blockout for the retopology. Like looking at the posted object above, I can imagine booleaning a lower poly cylinder to get the general cuts I need to match the high poly mesh. -

This doesn't really answer your question, but have you given yourself time to familiarize yourself with how Max initially works? I think there's a certain logic to each program, and while it was hard for me to use Max in the beginning with the viewports eventually I was glad I used the regular old hotkeys.
