Haven't seen any threads yet, but are there enough of us going to warrant a meet-up? I only know of a handful of people going. Perhaps we can organize something (or at least a time and place) :D Looking forward to seeing anyone there! I'll be around for PAX Dev and Prime.
For a pretty comprehensive list of the Montreal Game Dev Studios: http://www.mtlgs.ca/montreal.html There's a HUGE Film/VFX industry here, as well as medical/military simulations, Bombardier. There's TONS of opportunities in 3D here outside of games.
To be honest this sounds very unlikely to me (although definitely possible). At Creative Assembly for example we have something like 200+ dev staff and to my knowledge not one of them does only sculpting work.
When I went last year (and I'll likely be going this year too), I stayed in a hostel. It cost about $29 a night I think, and it was filled with indie game devs. Pretty awesome atmosphere.
Ultimately when I get the rabbit monster rigged it will be posed emerging from its den. I will probably mar up the ground more to make it look worn where regular foot travel would be.
3Dcoat cannot build procedual materials like the Substance Suite can. The sheer lateral changes and art direction possibilities that Substances provides is insanely useful for not just individual artists, but whole game dev teams.
Thanks Texelion, yeah keeping in the pipe and the ankles def need a tough up.. infact that whole area does. Sure hoping I can get this thing in for the deadline.. looks like it might be a close one!
Ah thanks! That's a really good point. I went ahead and corrected that. Def looks better. ediT: Talk to my ex-military co-workers... looks like I have a lotta changes to make >.>
Agree with everything said pretty much. Nice work so far and keep at it! If you want some inspiration for cool shield material def, colours, patterns etc check out the TV show vikings.
40 -45. Small team of devs. Excessive overtime destroys teams and often leads to work being roughly constructed, its usually a sign of wrong task estimation or workflow. So we try to avoid.
