I've continued adding more geometry and detail, mainly to the top of the hull, legs,arms,weapon as well as a socket joint which showcases more freedom in the mechs arm movement. Next I will be finishing off the leg, and moving onto the hull and turrets :)
What if you did a little mod work on the side? Wouldn't get paid for it, but you would have a good degree of freedom, and you could pick a mod that you like. Might get you back in the spirit to go frolic'n thru the daisies.
yeah i just had to much other personal stuff going on to give it my full attention. ah well freedom is nice for a while and no more f***ing commuting. heading back to the north east next week for some R&R.
If you switch to max 2021 or newer, explicit normals will be preserved. If you prefer smoothing groups over explicit normals (for example if you plan on modifying the mesh and want more freedom), check "Smoothing groups" when importing the fbx - this will try to convert explicit normals to SGs.

Id recommend the books for sure! Buying books is sooo much fun. It is an addiction that makes you look smart, best addiction ever. I can also sympathize with the parents and game thing, and then I moved out and breathed the fresh air of freedom mixed with ramen noodles!

I wish Unreal would go for both. I'm used to metalness now, but I still prefer specular workflow. Having the choice would be fantastic. As for unity, I've always thought of the program as being about freedom for the user. As such, I'd prefer either specular workflow or both.

just put said actors in 100 pound armor, sounds pretty simple, special made transparent armor if the balls end up being invisible in normal armor this would also help with the arm freedom of movement and other things like that mocap actors don't realize
