hahahahaha! good one. But seriously though I hope I get enough understand to start my project(s) and all. I have this month and next month. and half of september to do it all I believe. No I wasnt expecting anyone to side with me and tell me that "oh I am going through the same path as you and I've taken this approach!!!"…
Ta much Lazerus :) ...and yeah it is!! well after recent kallamity and a bit of faffing about (including a lot of posts with no pictures!) I have the low poly pretty much built for this guy, Tomorrow I had better get a start on the UV's and such....I really want this done and dusted before work starts, so that I can tackle…
I just spent the morning looking up tutorials and working to make my grass look good in UDK. I still have a bit of cleaning up to do but I'm loving the results so far! I have to tweak the grass so that it's in smaller clumps and easier to control. Earlier in the day it had really harsh shadows but I found a way to remove…
Yeah, in a sense. I used to have the same sort of problem as you. I started refining things too early. You've gotta start with the planes first, man. Preferrably at a low-res stage. Progressively build up resolution as you want to add more and more detail. It's also helpful you define certain points on the head. Landmarks,…
3dsmax has some great tutorials included in the help files (Main Menu > Help). Also The Area has some good content but you have to register and log in. Outside of that I would ignore 99% of whats on youtube, stick to sites like http://www.3dtotal.com/ Good luck on the simple passage way, even the visually simple ones can…
You also need to take into account bone LOD/culling (if your engine supports it). In bone culling you start losing the end of bone chains based on distance. If your model is in more of a relaxed starting pose you can actually start LOD'ing much sooner. This is particularly true with hands/fingers. It helps against the flat…
acidrain: I just thought I'd make a quick suggestion about your technique and approach. You did a bunch of nice work on top of some weak perspective here. Make sure to set up some groundwork first, and learn to draw the face from many angles. Do this before you use color or lots of shading. I'll usually just start like…
@eld wow- that stuff is looking sick! @greenj2 too funny! Can someone PM me about how to add your own custom skin, custom icon set, and custom world set? Or maybe point me in the right direction for a website? When I first started playing, I built a little hut into the side of a mountain for shelter and the next day went…
Thanks guys! MoP: When I normally do stuff like this I try to get every large piece of geometry down first and iterate, but for this piece I started out with the main body, then made the handle and started tightening it up a bit by adding a few loops and details. The reason for this was to get a better sense of the scale…
yeah you can def modify the low poly, and keep the details on the original. If i was you, I would just completely start over tho, and make that first one a learning experience..Not to sound too harsh, but you need to study some anatomy and other creature/animal structures and sort of show their characteristics in your…
