I agree with you so I went back and toned down the white to more of a gray. Let me know what you guys think. I feel like it slowly getting there I just have to train myself to catch errors in details. -

Is the floor a one sided plane , or does it have some thickness? If it doesn't have, have you tried it with a mesh that has thickness? You could just slap a box there for testing, rebake, and see if the error is gone. If it is, just add some thickness to the floor mesh. -

So, the solution for this particular error appears to be to never use single-sided geometry for static objects. Replaced my blockers with a standard cube, marked 'shadows only' and everything appears to have baked as intended. Lesson learned. Thanks to everybody who made suggestions. -

I changed the path, I'm hoping I must keep in the double back-slashes between folders, correct ? Otherwise I'm getting a syntax error on line 4.0, although looking at your code, from what I understand of MEL, it looks fine. -

With 2011 there was a bug or error at every turn and i could reproduce them if needed too! 2012 i have no problems it rarely...Crashes and some windows are still slow loading up Im using a 2-3 year old Dual core Vaio -

Hey guys, had another try and the problem was coming from importing into 3ds max. After selecting "Import Normals from Smoothing Group" the main problem went away. Seems the rest of my errors now are just problems with the Normal map bake -

Man this is weird, no human error like forgeting maya hard edges settings in obj ? i did try exactly now using maya 2012(student ed.) and some graphicall blender build and it works, maybe some folks may pitch in and test :(
