Hey, I think one thing I would say, is that it would probably be better for you to take on board some critique for your character model before preaching it as a tutorial. I fully respect your desire to help people out, but I can see some glaring issues with the construction of your model, pinches, anatomical issues etc…
I often see the RC Toy show up a lot in beginners work. There's suppose to be a popular tutorial out there based on the same thing, so that might explain its high frequency. Just my personal view, but if employers are in the know or could easily google that RC Toy tutorial, I would be careful using it as a portfolio piece…
The bit I played was a lot of fun. It's nice to see another person using Unity to make a game. Unfortunately their web player tends to be slow so it began to lag outside the tutorial level. My only critique so far is that it'd be nice to have a little more description on what the parts are for. Maybe in a pause menu…
Jaaito, I totally spaced on gamedev tuts! If you guys aren't shy about writing up tutorials that's another great way to get your game out there (and get paid to do it). I just wrote an article on creating 3d environments in Unity and it'll be going up on the site in the coming days so keep an eye out. So yeah, if you've…
Looking pretty good for your first UDK experience! I think one of the most powerful things about UDK is the material editor - I would dive into that as soon as possible. Normal and spec maps have a huge influence on lighting, so I would get those down first. Phillip K makes some great tutorials here on how to generate the…
I really like the overall design of it, but there is something that is bothering me with the face. Like the mouth might be too pouty, the eyes not "closed enough". Personally I hate creating females xD Because they're frickin hard to get right and then again I'm no a character artist :P I kinda feel like a proper…
@PyrZern - At the moment I'm just trying to learn how zbrush applies to characters and replicate what Madeleine Scott-Spencer is doing in the tutorial. What I'll likely do after this is make an anotomically correct skull, and then add muscles to that to get a firm understanding of facial anatomy. I'll be posting that in…
WAIT from the tutorial: "Make Sure you check Shadows, or you will get a white image. " I am such an idiot. I missed a step in the tutorial. [iWi], you are a hero - thank you everyone so much. I will post the difference between the max AO, and the Xnormal AO so that you can see the difference in quality. 3Ds max: xNormal:…
Aye glad i have a some zbrush tutorials... As for the PC thing, I do have a PC I just have my Maya and Photoshop on my Mac... So I am not foreign or against PCs... Just happen to be on my Mac more... Another question... I see models in here with like triangles mostly modeled into the mesh. Is this a way you should model…
hmmm seems like a neverending loop here! I get errors because part of my mesh is hidden, but it wont let me in Zmapper without highting part of my mesh! hah :) yes, half of my UVs are offset by 1, and this is on my low poly model. Its been unwarapped in Max so I dont want zbrush to automatically unwrap it - I don't know if…
