3ds Max got a GLTF export with 3ds Max 2023. GLTF/GLB Import is not there yet but i think they are working on it https://help.autodesk.com/view/3DSMAX/2023/ENU/?guid=GUID-EFBB037D-C4EB-42D2-9CE1-30FCAD483C31 in the meantime you can use the great BabylonJS expxorters to export from 3ds Max…
think you are looking for execute since maxscript will probably try to read d_standard[1] as a property but its really a string. Think there was a getproperty and setproperty functions for maxscript. Been a while. Edit: Heres the documentation for getproperty and setproperty (just search for…
Thanks for the explaination Coven. I will try to use OpenSubDiv from now on. Regarding the edges. It lets me do stuff like retopology and first build the mesh without actually creating faces. Or I want to redirect my edge flow. Or just put in some verts as a guide and later connect them. I have mutliple use cases for it.…
Lol^ I like this Zerg color theory you speak of :p Nice critter- really bizarre. As far as re-topo tools I can`t recommend 3dsmax`s standard "freeform" tools within "graphite modeling tools" feature. If you can get past the clunky interface, learn the shortcuts, you`ll have that thing re-topolagized in under an hour at…
I want to scale my unwrap to exactly 2 times in my UVWUnwrap Window. I dont want to scale by hand and use trial and error method. What should I do? I cant find any type-in box in the unwrap window (like the one that can be found by right clicking on the scale button in the main max viewport). I am using 3DSMax 2009....
I installed it on my experimental machine on Sat and it all seems to be working well but I haven't fully production tested it yet. 3dsmax 2014, zBrush, Photoshop CC all appear to work great. I haven't hit any snags, yet. I plan to do all of my daily work on the experimental box this week and if all goes well I'll upgrade…
I was also wondering when I was putting the tri count on this pic: Should you count the backs of polys that need to be 2-sided in the tri count? In my clien't engine I have to actually duplicate and flip the faces that need to have backs, but of course that's not necessary in 3dsMax, so I'm not sure which count to put. In…
"Normal Thief" a 3dsmax script and "Slide Normal Thief" MEL for Maya, will help get the shading right on the clumps of planes. Eric Chadwick did a great write up on the wiki about it, lots of good animated examples. http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/VertexNormal#Foliage_Shading Basically you're aligning the normals of the…
A plastic bag draped over a hollow cylinder is a heavy lift for a "cloth" sim, especially if you want the plastic folds. 3dsmax's cloth and even Marvelous Designer just aren't going to give you that level of detail, you might get pretty close to the overall shape but you'll end up sculpting in the details that actually…
Well. Ethan has already dominated this thread with perfect renders... but I'll add what I can haha ;) I just want to say thanks to Ethan and my peers for the opportunity to contribute to such an amazing project, I've learned a ton and truly feel like being a part of this team has been a milestone for me. Everything below…
