I wouldn't recommend a 700 series chipset when AMD has 800 series chipsets now. Unless you're going to make several systems and set up a render farm, quad core is good enough. More RAM is always worth it. A single GPU or a dual GPU card is better than two cards in SLI/CF. It's less power draw and easier to upgrade later.… -

My very first laptop was horrible and it did completely fine. You probably dont have to get as expensive as you say, $600-$800 should do fine. -

Ok, thanks for the infos. My mesh has so far about 80k polys and it will go to around 200k polys. And maybe i try to sell the end product in Turbosquid. A high poly mesh with a lot of floating geo overlapping each other wont be good for that. -

This time I think i'll aim for a under 8000 poly character, once again hand painted. I sketched a quick reference to use while I model, anyone can use them if they want a quick start.
