Re: texturing in the early 2000's - how did you do it?
Photoshop is still a very important tool. NDO and DDO (both part of Quixel SUITE) use it extensively. Some people prefer using PS to hand-paint realistic or stylized textures, others use it without any other tools, etc. It just depends on the artist and whether the studio they work at dictates the tools being used. -

BACK FROM THE DEAD i just got a LX for my cin, andi have mixed feelins, theres a lot of wobble when i draw on it, seems to be coming from the horizontal extension,, anyone know of any way to make this not so bad, when i draw on it it bounces all over, is it just a matter of getting used to it? -

Are you seeing any elevation changes at all in world machine? Typically importing 1009x1009 up to 4033x4033 RAW files with all default WM settings usually show up pretty well for me. You may have to adjust the "maximum elevation" size in the project settings, or change the width/length of the render extents to be smaller… -

Personally I think that's one of the rubbish bits for SE users. In the full version, the extent of hotkey assignment and interface customisation is vast. You can move/rearrange pretty much anything in the interface and assign hotkeys to do different things depending on viewport type, selection mode, currently active… -

ya i haven't touched CB since ndo2 came out. ndo2 also changed workflow by huge extents, there are a ton of things i dont even bother doing in my highpolys anymore, and i pretty much stopped useing floaters, since i can just do that detail with ndo2 jsut as easily. -

Much obliged for sharing the vid, I love seeing how other artists break down their modular assets as it's something I'm trying to polish up when it comes to levels. Were the wall designs/numbers/text added as decals? Been curious about the use of decals for levels and to what extent you can use them. -

Great stuff dude!! The Orc is toooooo awesome!! My one crit is on the second zbrush, the fat man bust, and maybe to a lesser extent the first alien bust, there's some areas that feel way too lumpy. The roll of fat under the chin is pretty smooth, whereas his fat rolls have some odd lumps... -

have a look if you can find the roms for a game called expendable. Wsa a ps1 game which had the same view, it might shed some light. Looks really good so far, especially for a student game. I know the quality of the graphics that most student games have.... so this is crazy good in comparison. -

It shouldn't matter but you might want to also try a standard image format like bmp, png or tga. Technically it shouldn't bother to read the extension and should only be grabbing the file name but I've been using tga's and png's and haven't tried the VTF plug-in yet. I couldn't get it to work in 3dsMax 2008 =/
