Congrats! As a full-time dad / rest-of-the-time freelancer I can say it's been an amazing experience so far. Currently giving my little one a head start in gamedev art making. Just let 'em scribble wildly on my tablet or dig holes in paper sketchbooks (my old sketchbooks) with sloppy wet finger paints.
I wouldn't worry. I have worked with people ranging from 22 to ~50 in the games industry so far in my first 2 places in the industry. I am currently 23 and working freelance from home after a year in a studio, but I have friends much older in the games industry. You're never too old! :D
I've been using a laptop for all my freelance work for the last 2 years, and it's been great. Nice to be able to take it with me when the need arises. I use an external keybd and mouse and 2nd monitor, and I bought one of these to put it at eye height. Also was nice when I was teaching, since I could pack it with me.

5 core full-time staff and about the same in short term contract and/or freelancers like concept artists etc. Unfortunately coop was a Kickstarter goal we never reached and a huge investment in resources we just didn't have for our initial release. We really want to add coop though. :) Yeah we did use Alloy.
