Texelion, these are all looking great!! Yea, I've been toying around with the idea of Patreon as well. I've been doing freelance Miniature sculpts and want to do my own thing. I just haven't figured out what rewards to offer and then the whole Fan Art issue...although Sakimichan seems to be doing just fine, lol.
Bigtime's points were spot on, I guess this is why a lot of people choose to freelance too. I'm guilty of working unpaid overtime, reasons being wanting to make the project I'm on better and mainly down to a love of it....but a break is needed. You can't go 100% 24/7, it's just not sustainable and you'll burnout, not to…
I guess my other question is: am I ready to freelance yet? I'd like to not have to do awful retail jobs. If not, what do I need to work on? I mean I need to finish up a couple of pieces for my portfolio, but beyond that, I'd like to begin work in the industry. I hope I'm not fooling myself.
Freelancer (New graphics with new gameplay factors that current game dont has due to technical limitations). UT99 (I hope the next UT would turn back to its own roots). Unreal (Fastinating game.A new game by preserving the atmosphere of orginal one would be nice). Freespace!! (It seems theres a demand for that…
That's true. The game seems to have only one geographic location which is modeled after an area close to where the devs live. In this case it makes sense to do all the scanning work, if the alternative is hiring some top artists or freelancers to achieve similar quality. The lighting is probably not an issue if the game…
Hutena, It looks like your school is actually hindering your progress instead of propelling it. Everyone is right. I have never been to a traditional school for game development. Learned everything I know through self study, and have now gotten good enough to get freelance jobs which could turn into fulltime opportunities…
The visa laws are changing/have changed here so it may be easier to get a longer period of stay. Hawken may be married and if so he's on a Spouse Visa, golden ticket of visas when it comes to work in this country because of lack of paperwork required. Also, he's freelance, I think he deals with his visa issues on his own.
Well, sub contract out some of the work to freelancers or friends. A week before the deadline start dropping hints about how the deadline is really tight and it's gonna be hard to make it on time. Have something to show the day before the deadline, say you've been working round the clock, and ask if you can get a little…
I'm surprised there's not many platforms that offer a free "contract" commission set-up kind of thing. There's plenty of services to find artists and programmers, and plenty of services to help organize projects. But nothing that helps ease the trust between internet collaborators or maybe collaborators in general.…
Never give up never surrender! took me awhile to get in the industry myself as long as you keep up to date and keep doing a lot of personal work you wont have a problem :) also keep active in the community mostly every job/freelance gig i have gotten is through people i have met on this site.
