Typically constraints, IK and blend shapes won't transfer, mostly what transfers is very simple bone position and rotations. A pipeline that doesn't allow for iteration isn't much of a pipeline, heh. In Maya and Max you bind/skin the new mesh to the bones, copy the weights from the old mesh and then delete the old mesh. License transfers can only legally be done by Autodesk, read the EULA. It strictly prohibits you from transferring the license to another person unless you go through them. you can always create a data mesh and alter the geometry there and then bake the weights back on, or just transfer the weights over to the altered mesh, then tweak what weighting needs to be tweaked. Yes, I had this problem too. I did eventually find a way round it, but it was so fiddly and unreliable (with generally poor results), I've gone back to UV mapping the high poly model, baking AO for it then transfering the info through colour rather than trying to use the poor AO transfer. It's an odd issue, but I think I solved it. Yes I switch projection master on and off with G. I also transfer some UVs to a separate quadrant in Max then in Zbrush use UV Groups + Group Split to separate the model into subtools really quickly. i thought the timething was just to build tension. but it still kinda worked for me. cause the time behind the wormhole could run differently because that galaxy is moving at a faster speed then ours. the time on individual planets would still be roughly the same. it just works better for tension purpose to have the time… -
