This is a mobile game that I am the art lead on... https://bajsingh.wordpress.com/total-war-battles-kingdom/ It's not all diffuse only 400 tri models any more! It really is catching up.
i love the design but texture is too flat. i assume it's diffuse only? if yes then it needs to have a stronger, more directional lighting painted on it. some AO would help too.
Diffuse texture added, gonna give this a little more love, more hue variations, fixing light and shadows here and there and finalize texture on colour blocking everywhere, much to do :poly009:
Give this a watch/read first: http://www.marmoset.co/toolbag/learn/character-setup It doesn't cover cloth too much, but you can try using the microfiber diffusion method for cloth.
You seem to be getting the right effect, I'd maybe also make the diffuse a bit darker in the wet area, it will help create contrast and make it look more.... well wet :D
If you dont want to add grunge or dirt to it, then you could make the bottom 2 rows a darker diffuse color, or give it a color. If nothing, at least you can shrink the texture. :)
That's a cool tutorial! Thanks for that! For the dragon, the modelling looks good. But there's something missing, I don't get the feeling that it is made of bronze. Might be because there is no diffuse though. Good job so far!
Really lovely work, my only critism would be to further define the rendering of the grey chest area. Thank you for the breath of fresh air, there's not enough of the old diffuse only stuff :)
That paintover is really helpful, thank you. Right now I'm debating whether those polys on the door and window hatches are necessary, what do you guys think? UVs and Diffuse
looks really great imo. In your 'shadeless diffuse' render, you still got some AO going there, right? or dost mine eyes playeth tricks on me? great stuff!
