Having modular shader makes a lot of sense, giving the user to make it as complex as he needs. The new mental ray shading system is clever like this. Start with a lambert and just layer a spec module and type.
Well, this is not supposed to be a fast ship, that's why it as a moderate number of fighters. the fore section is the fighter bays, [Two Decks]. This ship is mainly a battleship, designed for brute force. Ill have full specs at a later time.
Trouble is there are now a lot of them. Paragon will be entering a very crowded market when it does arrive, and judging by the visuals the system specs will be high. I feel Epic may have shot themselves in the foot with this one.
Black/white spec maps control only the specular reflection intensity. Colored specular maps control the color and intensity, which is useful for some complex materials and certain metals (gold, brass, copper, etc).
not really going for a style/era. just trying to do my thing. but i wouldnt call it my style though. main goal is to make it look as best i can while constrainign it to game specs.
how would you learn to use this thing, even if you master it without the blades activated? haha very nice work though! Give the spec a little more variation, other than that, looks great
Looking sweet, I'm loving the style. I think the spec for the metal parts can be sharper. The scratches don't really make sense right now, a bit too long as has been said before.
I've applied all of the normal maps to my assets now to my scene actually looks like its coming along. When I paint the textures, the metalness/spec will go down to realistic levels.
In a rush here because we're leaving to see Tropic thunder. Brass, underwater, comes out every so ofter for repairs and such. THe spec is broken as I didn't update for new parts I worked on this morning.
