I have had better results with the Nvidia 6800 than some professional cards *ahem* "wildcats". The eVGA card has a lifetime warranty and I think they are going for around 130 USDs these days. I've heard good things about ATI's x line. I didn't realize they had an AGP version of the X1600. maybe check out… -

I partitioned my harddrive and installed windows xp 64 it runs fine and the 8800GT seems to be performing well but now I cant find any wireless network drivers for my asus wl-138g v2 so vista64 = no working video card drivers(driver stopped responding errors) xp64 = no working network card drivers so no internet access has… -

I guess it depends on your budget but i would have picked different hardware for a gaming rig. For CPU choice it's ok, but you could have gotten more power at least for gaming. A duo 8600 3Ghz outperforms any quad on crysis @ 1680x1050, except the QX9770 which is a real bargain at 1319$! ;)… -

You say you're not aiming to be a texture artist, what is your goal? Environment artist? if so you will need to do texturing and a lot of it. The words "AO render" and "Professional" when referring to showing off a wireframe / clay render don't generally belong in the same sentence. It's almost as professional as throwing down some uber-1337 lens flare. Unless of course, you know what you are doing.
