Well, I've suspected something like that - they're a bit confusing from the beginning, and i probably need to make some more informal introduction into these tools. Let me then introduce myself first: my name is Alexander "Joss" Khalyavin, i'm Maya tech artist/developer with ~16 years of Maya experience. Autodesk Maya…
Like these guys already said..the crate is just a box with some random shapes..that definitely won't cut it. Definitely go through the polycount wiki, try out some tutorials, etc...like everybody else is saying. Also, it would probably benefit you to try to base your models off of some concept art or something. For an…
The one thing that always kills it for me is not having hotkeys/keyboard in slate mode. Then it's battery life... Also finding a decent stylus is hard... saw this the other day: http://enliighten.com/blog/axiotron-studio-pen-for-tablet-pcs/ might be worth looking into. If you're only aiming to be portable some of the time…
Hey, everyone! Didn't have time to work on this model for a while, but now I'm back! This time I'm done with the drive train. Took me some time and a lot of reference photos to figure out all the mechanical parts. I think it works. I'm sure in real life this vehicle would fall apart on the first bump, but hey it's an art.…

Thanks for all your help guys. Not posted here for a while due to xmas and family stuff. Back on it now and need some help from you guys. Ok sooo Maya question....I'm baking out a knife at the minute and need to flip some UV's to the -1 in the UV editor. So far I've not been able to find the option which does this. I can…
Are you holding down shift when rotating? Never had this prob. Might try this script for snapping to an axis. It could help. http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?161588-quot-Axis-quot-Plugin-for-ZBrush-4r2&highlight=axis
Thank you all @poopipe @Axi5 @Bruno Afonseca I decide to set the soft cap at ~3000 tris per prop and test them in a scene later. By then I should be able to reduce poly in 10s of thousands per scene (if necessary).
