Nintendo tried. It was putting a virtual character right next you! But eh, the 3DS is tiny and not very powerful so the experiences were most likely... not impressive. Virtual Reality on the other hand at least transports you into another world.
day 2, @turistas: i keep my arms like that, i think its close to the reference and add some power and wilderness to the character. @appolo: if you want to rig it, you may want to keep the tail straight.
Trust me there's a difference between illustrators and concept artist livestreaming: One is a hypnotic journey where you follow the birth of something incredible, and the other is a near-endless cycle of create-and-delete design drafts powered by sweat and tears. :|
I got one of the first i7 mbps, powerful thing and it could cook an egg too :) But yeah they're underpowered in relation to their price tag, with the same amount of money you could get a beast of a machine and install hackintosh on that
For the shadow, basically create a standard Lambert (Dot (Normal, Light) which is clamped setup, and multiply/power it from there. Although I need to also double check this, since I'm not sure if the clamp comes after or before the harden.
Ah, so I found the little jade dragon. I was going to take it in a more serious direction with traditional red and gold colours- something more powerful. This is where I'm at now. What you think, worth continuing?
You really don't need that much GPU power if you're going to be rendering with V-Ray or Arnold, though it's still a good to have. Go with the single card, I hear too many compatibility issues with SLI happening.
THESE ARE ACE! You and Ravenslayer are killing me with your art powers. The two of you are really inspiring me to get better. Keep going dude, I am super keen to see some more.
Well, one exploded-power-supply-induced vacation later, here's the low poly model with normal maps baked. I'm having a hard time with the accordion-thing on the scope's eyepiece. I think it needs more geometry.
That because not so long ago 3ds Max was a absolute winner in hard surface modeling, so many modelers uses 3ds Max for it. But now Maya is also powerful for this work. Just use what you like more.
