I have watched a lot of tutorial videos and I have to say that you do an excellent job explaining things. You don't assume the viewer has an extensive knowledge of the program and take the time to walk them through it step by step. Kudos on the nice work :)
i cleared my desk of crunch time detritus today. If only i'd thought to do a before/after shot ... someone should do research as to the nature and extent of the ... er ... matter that collects, and why. I was pulling things out i didn't fully understand ...
Does it still crash if you put the viewport into Bounding Box display (or maybe Wireframe), then select the mesh? On my install of XP 64-bit, Maya 2008 (no extensions) crashes when I select a mesh of around 1+ million triangles. Maybe it's a driver issue?
Well...the computer station I use at school has the interesting save panel layout named "3D Studio Max". Lol...thats the extent of my customizations so far, creating the default 3DMax 4 panel layout in Maya...idk...I'm just used to it...
@Blaisoid: Haha, sorry about those. I'll reupload it at a higher quality ;) @tsabszy: I've been thinking about doing a tutorial for a while, just not sure what I'd cover that hasn't already been covered extensively (and also what I could competently convey).
From what I can see, it looks like you have jumped too far into your sculpt without refining the initial silhouette. I'd definitely spend more time on the lower sub-div levels, working your way up to extensive detail.
yeah I figured that and it does work to some extent. Its also good to remember that theres also the merge object tool so you can place any of your own home made primitives with extra bevel power in the same way as these default prims
VRML2 is possible using Maya's converter aswell -- (WRL is the extension if I remember correctly). Guy I know sent over a couple of vehicles he made in Max and I put them in animation on my Maya box. Lol -- and if you're rich -- Polytrans :b
oh thanks again! from what I understand they mainly use C to code and simply compile the code with an arm compiler. Not really a coding geek (only have some Veeeeeeery basic c++ knowledge) just hope they'll have an extensive documentation for the Sdk.
thanks for all the replies, its still not working, im prolly just going to reskin it cause im already behind on a school proj i dont want to do, dont know if it matters but im running max 2009 creativity extensions 64bit, on vista x64
