Last year whilst working partime freelance, I'd snared a couple of paid jobs by 'word of mouth' since I don't have an online art showcase for perusal and as too portfolio presentation, either research the wiki or browse this thread highlighting artists who've gained employment via their respective folio of work.
Thanks to everyone who has been applying. We are now currently focusing our efforts on finding a qualified 3D Character/Creature animator. If you would like to apply for freelance animation work, please send your reel to: justins@zqgameglobal.com Previous knowledge of animating for games expected. Thank you.
Yeah I hear you Haiddasalami its been really hard, totally put me off the idea of ever freelancing being on your own is horrible! I use forums for feedback alot, mainly polycount but you're right, its not instant crits like being around like minded people.
Thanks a lot Taylor for your response, though I think you might have misunderstood me, I actually do want to migrate and move to somewhere else the second an opportunity arrives :) and the way you just explained, it seems that part is actually more reasonable than being a freelancer from here.
Burpee- you are joking right? - zbrush is so used in any amount of studios and is fully integrated in to the art pipeline. I really don't understand where you are coming from on this. still Not viable in a work environment? WTF i have been using it as both a freelancer and a senior artist since around 2006
I'd like to point out that generalists aren't completely screwed. They just tend to be freelancers or work for small studios. Sometimes, they will produce popular indie games. Other times they can be found in odd places like at a law firm or a general contractor. Great post. You're missing some links though (#4).
Re-textured the dessert splashes and the pinatas. I wanted to showcase the splashes, but didn't want to leave out any of the textures from the asset pack that I was given, for the freelance gig, so I completely painted over them. The models that were being thrown, at the very beginning, are still from the asset pack.
Very soon! Hopefully after next week. I am also preparing a mel toolbox for lots of usefull things, like exposure and environment replacement. Work is a caos and I am with a crazy freelance job on the side for comic-con, 4 days without sleep. But it should be all over next week.
Your poll is missing 2 options I don't buy or sell models. I do buy and sell models. If I need a model of something, I make it. I do sell models occasionally for freelance jobs. Not via any online (turbosquid) sites though. I doubt its worth it.
@Sebeuroc Thanks for the input man, i also thought that i should lower chunks a bit. Just wanted to create feeling like ice holding the sword itself rather than sword stuck in the ice if it makes sense :D Got some freelance stuff to do for now but i will continue soon!
