First off, your normals green channel is inverted. Second, when triangle errors that small appear it usually means your high poly was somehow corrupted in the export process. Are you retopo-ing in zbrush or another program?
As far as I understood, it is better because it is faster. That you can do it in the app, and that you dont need cages, as you dont get hardedge errors. But I am not sure, thats just what I have read.
In a lot of the tutorials that suggest atlassing like that, they tend not to go many (or any) spans with tiling the texture and they will break up the tiling with trims like columns or ledges. You simply can't do it that way without getting mipping errors.
Amazing model! The one thing that catches my eye are the central creases on the face (nose and lips in particular)... from a distance it reads as a mip mapping error or something to me. I love how clean and defined everything is.
It looks good :) But there seems to be some kind of error in the normal map. I could be wrong though. Adding a bit more scratches on the right places on the metal wouldn't hurt either. There is also a clear seam on the top of the wooden handle.
Throw an Edit Normals modifier on top of your stack and see if your normals area really where they should be. I know in Max2014 there's errors at times I've encountered this issue at work. Worst case is to just remodel the geo.
sadly they don't :/ I think this might be caused by some error in the file itself since if I go back and remodel the whole tree and save it again = this again. Really hoping somebody knows how to fix this weird issue!
Well, looks like a good start. The shader on it blows out the contrast and it's hard to tell what is what on this thing. It also hides any modeling errors you may have. Could you just use a gray phong?
Do you plan on modeling the holes in your lowpoly as well? Holes in high = ray projection errors when baked. This would be better done with capped off holes, and the easiest solution would be to float the holes. something like this:
Congrats on the release! But like cptSwing said; If you want to sell it you should probably post a link to where it's being sold ;) I checked the website listed on your profile but it just shows an "Internal Server Error" message.
