I would defer to your knowledge, you would know far more about both systems than I would. If you think its more stable and easier to work with (on the backend) I believe you. I was more or less thinking out loud and hoping someone could help fill in the gaps. I thought I had some info on the differences between the two but…
You're right, my lighting is kind of off. I will move the point lights on the upper rocks down lower so they look more like they are coming from the lanterns. There is fog in the scene, but it isn't very thick. I didn't want to drown the scene in fog, but I will play with the fog strength a bit. A mist and/or dust particle…
The room is really starting to come together now. I made a few paintings, and books. Just adding those in and populating the room with it a little bit has made it look leagues better. I am still struggling with the lighting a little bit, so that will most likely be the next problem to tackle. Just the way I have it set up…
Good Morning Polycount!!! So i was able to do a small amount of work last night, did a little bit of mesh refinement.....and i was trying to do that lighting set up....but it didnt respond to lighting i dropped in the scene....it was really odd I'm going to research it more later today but here are some updates from last…
Hey everyone, Thanks for all the ideas. I'm in agreement that the lighting was off before. I'm going to be cracking down on the lighting pretty soon trying to get it correct. I think I'll go with a night/snowy scene and try to do some lighting like you see in Thief. It's pretty dramatic with lots of dust/smoke. Also plenty…
Welcome to the fourms. The only critiques I have is your lighting in hurting your work. .The exterior of your Avalon scene is decent, that is your best one. The interior, not so much. Try just adding point lights in the windows and openings to the sky. remove the rest of the lights you have in there that don't have a light…
I'm using Unreal. First I turned off the fire place lights and had only the default skylight and directional light (sun) from the FPS template. That way I could adjust my sunlight coming in the windows as much as possible before adding any more light. You have to play with the indirect lighting strength setting of your…
Thanks Paul you were right, I guess I got too carried away trying to fake the SSS stuff and turned him into a lobster. PHArt - Thanks, a walk cycle of that pose would be one of the strangest things I have ever seen haha. -- UPDATE -- I have been tweaking the textures and shaders. I am practically finished on this guy now…
What a neat project! I know you're going to do another pass on the painted wood, but right now it's very constant throughout the house, I think it might give more personality if it's more spread out. Spreading out the chips of damaged paint will also allow you to create points of interest to guide the eye over to other…
Another update on the blockout. Started blocking the walls, testing texel density and got rid of the tubes section as currently didn't like the direction it was taking. Tomorrow will be focus on the columns and the door walls section with the pipes as currently its preety flat right now. The week focus will be to finish…
