Hey Tom, great initiative thanks for this! Thought I would start with some fanart for Slackjaw, just a block-in right now so got a ways to go - C&C would be great too :) ...and just a self crit of stuff I gotta fix.
Here's one.. I think this will be the next step, this was not color picked, on a 30-minute timer. I want to get the initial color and feel down quicker and start to be able to implement my own ideas into each study I do. Hard, hard, hard. :)
On a side note, in case I was unclear, the initial post was when I tried exporting the normal map from Mudbox. The image from the post I just made is the other technique of baking the normal map from Maya. I hope that wasn't confusing.
I have it thunder. I found it's really only good for the initial shaping of a figure, but I wanted to keep it low for the block in of mine since I find it easier to shape. Dyna Mesh is a really cool tool there's no doubt, but it's not a fix to all our problems.
Substance Painter work on the two armors and the first shield. Still getting used to the roughness levels moving from Substance Painter to Unreal (initially getting that high contrast white/black cloudy look and having to drop the low levels in Photoshop to even it out).
Thanks, yeah I wasn't sure what to put there instead of the axes, adding another torch would be too much maybe. Initially I was making this as a Tusk hud, but since the sigil and axes appear only on 16:9 I changed my mind.
I'd like to just continue sculpting in details and variations after I have my initial brick layout, dropped and tilded around. But the best way is projecting a grabbed displacement map over a new plane would get me back into sculpting mode?
Thanks! Its initially for pc and ps4. Its a four player local multiplayer game and I can't imagine the controls transferring well over to mobile. I don't think the level of detail and size of the assets would hold up on mobile either :p .
Has there ever been a movie trailer thread posted on Polycount that wasn't initially filled with people complaining about it until its release? It makes me wonder how the movies we grew up with would fare if they were just getting released today.
Yeah lots of text, I scanned though it but it didn't seem very interesting. Needs more punch, more diversity and definately a storyline that has been calculated upon an initial visual concept. This is my saying but anyway.. "If you can't visualise it, don't make it."
