@slingshot: thanks for the boost slinger old pal! i shall keep the sketchbook rolling! @duranian: you bet. i'll get on that newer content thing soon. welcome to the forums! @adambrome: i actually really like that idea. i've never really been one for manga fan art (unless its tezuka cause he's the best) but i will give that…
NEHE's tutorials have gotten a bad rap lately for being horribly out of date, and teaching bad habits or techniques. I advise against using internet tutorials for learning programming. Go get a good book and read it all the way through. NOT A LEARN C++/C# IN 24 HOURS book either. Get a proper book. Do the exercises, and…
This project will be the apex of your career as an animator. If you consider yourself in the top tier of video game animators and are ready to apply your talent to the next generation of video game consoles then this is the career for you. Does breathing life into characters and creating jaw dropping animation drive you?…
Hi. I've been thinking about this one and wondered if anyone has done any such thing. Basically I want to bake down the finer details of a body scan to a normal map. Then this normal map can be layered over the normal map I'm creating for my character that only has primary details in it, the big shapes like muscles and…
Looking good, some critique: I would try and make the fabric look more like its going underneath the mechanism/solid parts and try and get the pinching effect, adding more creases etc, then you'd get the look of the fabric being looser but pulled tight at the seams. It perhaps looks a little too flat right now, though I…
Just an idea: Try to have a fairly high res version of it just to fix the face normals. It really gets wonky when I try any AO bakes with the target and source is the same geometry. It gets worse and unpredictable if you have a complex organic geo such a this.
After a few months of work its finally time to show off some WIPs of my latest personal project. This is a radio my brother owns and I figured it would be a hell of project to model the entire thing, and quite frankly it is the most challenging thing I ever worked on, both in terms of scope and the level of detail…
On the pieces where I can see polycounts I think they are actually fine and it looks like you have a good handle on distribution. (This is for the totem and the hub creature) We're getting to the point where polycount doesn't matter too much for modern gen stuff, but if you can make something look good with less it will…
Thanks everyone!!! Really appreciate all the feedback! :D @SteVAI - As far as how many hours it took?? ... Well most of them. haha... really tho, I had a week off for vacation in late Nov. Besides that, I've been working on both of these pieces almost every single night after work, and lots of mornings before work...…
Nah, my complaints are still valid. Highlight selected verts don't do anything. I want my selected UV point in the UV editor window to select the corresponding Vert on the geo. I also like to hunt UV points on the mesh itself and have them show up in the UV window. It's usefull for unwrapping overlapping sections. The…
