I can see the rotation being a huge issue for 2d artists that use it.. The rotate canvas in photoshop is near unusable.. It both distorts the pixels alot, and makes the tablet less accurate while the canvas is rotated. Its terrible but I wish Autodesk would release a competing product to photoshop :P Take the draw quality…
I'd have to agree with the overall comments - you have talent, but the presentation is killing you. Remember that the purpose of the portfolio is to showcase your art; the KISS principle - Keep It Simple, Silly - is fundamental. Lose the background slideshow; I'd also lose the slideshow in the gallery, and just have a…
you might want to rotate the islands with wooden boards so the indentations between the boards run vertically or horizontally. pixels are arranged in rows so you should try and have lines laid out to follow them to prevent jaggy edges. this is probably the cause of the jaggy line seen in your previous image >…
I think you could throw more tri's at this thing, very subtle chamfers on edges can really help the hard pixelation, and you gotta get smoother curves on that building for this to look next gen. Polycount really isn't much of an issue these days, for something this big it deserves more tris! Blockin looks good though,…
As in everything else in life, you learn through repeated failure. Just start putting down pixels. Each time you try it'll look slightly less terrible than the last time you tried it. Eventually it'll even start looking good. Just pick a model (this one for example) and texture it over and over again until you're happy…
You just need to not exceed 512x512 pixels in total, as far as I'm aware. So you could have: 1 x (512x512) or 4 x (256x256) or 2 x (512x256) etc. So if youve got any tiled bits, seperate them ( but i doubt you will by the looks of it). Awesome concept btw, as been said before, will look smexy as hell in 3d.
Maybe for movies? I know game companies want to get off the disk scene so you can't buy used games. As for $300 launch price, thats pretty scary. Im sure theres a graphics card in that thing so powerful (especially at tv resolution which is 60-100k less pixels) it wont go obsolete nearly as fast as the 360 did.
I came across a pixel forum that has an anonymous list of developer reviews. Might it be a good idea to set such list up here? just to give possible employees that might have gotten an offer or came across a company a fair look into the actual studio? without being tricked into a poisonous working environment with all…
you should free your hand more, right now u seem to attain perfection in eaach pixel, wich of course makes the oposite, dont be afraid to throw in some dabs and stuff that might look plain, but the best concepts are made like that P.S - i bet i didnt make any sense, but oh well :P happy new year XD
That made sense i didn´t encounter that, because i don´t use mr materials very often, so no clue there :D And for the red parts if rays miss... you can turn that of, i do that quite often sometimes i only get very small ones(like 1-2 pixels) which i just paint over later.
