For models like this i usally merge all the needed geometries for the enveloping process or use a simple basemesh. After that the weights get transfered with gator to the real mesh. The viewport looks like 3dsmax so you can use the skinwrap to transfer the weights.
I still have one question I've seen many people painting with using only transfered brushes instead of playing around with opacity and flow. And some people without transfer using the opacity and flow just like DemonPrincess. Which is the better approach?
got rig for the persian setup. she swaps between sword/shield mode and bow mode so a few extra controllers for that. She also has some dreadlocks and skirt to be simulated but setting that up is tedious so i do it later and keep knocking out the big things for now. The good thing is that rigs and animations are starting to…
I had a look at it marmoset, there is something wrong. The only thing I did really that changed anything fundemental that looked definitvely problematic, was I triangulated the low poly. Since you were baking in maya and maya is the target renderer, not sure if thats the fix you are actually looking for as triangulation…
Back with another one of those block rockin' screenshots. Two of them, in fact. These are the panels that cover the engine at the back of the hull. I think I'll apply an alpha map to the wire mesh and model some very simple fans underneath. I think basic geometry should suffice, no need for a normal map or anything since…
Can you show your UVs? It looks like the search radius is a bit high, so it bakes the details off the model that are too close to it. You can try setting up a cage to see if it fixes it or play with the search distance. Lets say your hair mesh is a separate and named. When the rays are casts the rays might search to far…
I think it's a given that PCs are easily more powerful than next-gen consoles but more power doesn't equate to a better platform. I primarily play PC games as I generally play a lot of Counter-Strike, but console gamers get a ton of amazing games that I'll never get to try unless I purchase a console. From my experience,…
@perna sadly, I don't even think the newer generations even know about the docs. I still flick through my old Max docs, over a cup of tea, from back in the day when paper was popular. I still have some of those Max Bible volumes from r4/r5 from when I was starting out. :) OP - as per perna's advice, here's a copy/paste…
I'm sorry, but it's illogical to toss off the correlations to past dictatorships as hyperbole. That this step is small is stating the obvious. But that's the actual problem. In many cases of past dictatorships, the transition into it was so small, so gradual, that nobody notices it until we're there. And let's not blow…
A quick note about reset Xform, it applies a modifier to your stack and can't be undone, it also reorients the objects pivot to the world. Sometimes you need that, sometimes it makes working with the object really hard. Right now you could probably not care that much about pivots but really they're a huge strength of…
