Yeah as gwot said there are no edge tools, if you want edge extrude there is a workaround tho, make a 2-point-poly, and extrude that... But then you have to merge points, and unify polygons because it will make them double sided.... Really lame shit.
The sink and the fridge seem to have wasted polygons. If you build the chairs like this(see picture) it will also save you some tris. Otherwise, looks like a fine lowpoly model. It will be most interesting to see what you will do with the texture. :)
I hope ZB 3 lets you select polygons a little bit like Maya/Max/Lightwave in a way that makes more sense than paint select your selection with quick masks that dont work yada yada yada
They aren't too radically different... there are different number of tri's per plane. They aren't just one solid polygon each. I'll post a screenshot in a second. They are radically rotated in different angles so a camera based projection isn't going to work.
I am working on a Wii title. The machine isn't great, and the polygons counts are low, but, it's fun to play. As artists we all want Gears of War visuals, but the general puplic isn't that impressed, and after the hype they are still playing the Wii. Scott
Hmm, I had those problems before, I think it was because of overlapping polygons, or unwelded vertexes, might want to check for them. Btw, just to make sure, its not a baked AO map in your material you might have?
I won't go into much details since this is your first model, but try to make the chest and back areas a bit less edge-loopy. Remove some edge rings because you got a lot of polygons that don't add to the silhuette there.
Looks like a 'target render' to me too. But, if you look closely you can see some very interesting things like low res flickering shadowmaps, and behind the motion blur there are some polygon silhouettes that make it look realtime.
he ment that the massive ammount of polygons not defining any shape would make rick stirling scream i guess ( i can be wrong thou ) with that poly density you could make 4 of those characters without loosing detail.
thought it was brilliant, i want to see more games like this.. sort of honest in a way, like- 'you know this isn't a real tree, so lets not pretend it is.. its a collection of polygons shaped like a tree. go play some golf'
