It looks to me like the dark bits are where clothes are covering the body. You can use name matching to exclude meshes from the bakes. This is all in the documentation
its those cloth bands.. they are just onesided - if u see them from "behind" they are invisible. and there is also a hole inside the of the modell. between the ice and the handlepart. but this is not *unwanted*
An update.Since my last post I have uv mapped the body, started doing some rendering tests and started working/struggling on the clothes. crits welcomed
This has really come a long way Dan! I agree with everything Zipfinator posted. Some hanging clothes and a bit of a waterline will really help to sell this thing.
So long as the topology of the scarf is similar to the body, and bone weights are set properly, it should animate fine. It's very common to do clothes this way in realtime games.
Here's an update. Added the ropes and cloth work. Next up will be a stylized sculpt pass in Zbrush before I bake this down. I'm still looking for critique! :)
You model some this that did not needed to be modeled like the cloth or the grip can be made with the normal map. So don't be afraid to use the power of the normal!! :D
