Unless you have a family, don't worry too much about how much you earn as long as you have a senior position. While I worked in the industry I lived Vienna, London, Oslo and now in Shanghai and at a certain income level you can live okay in almost every place. Especially comparing US and EU salaries without factoring in… -

Nvidia is still safer to choose. They just tend to work properly all the time. I've had many examples of ATi cards acting up with my shader in Max, while every single GeForce worked fine with it (except for Rasmus' 6100 :p ). There's probably more cases where ATi has problems with certain things. -

It kind of depends on what you'll be doing? I'll assume modeling & materials? I am by no stretch a Maya expert but I did start off with Maya years ago, switched to Max and then later went back and brushed up on Maya. I recommend checking out NEX http://draster.com/nex-1.5/. Can you interchange your wacom and huion tablets without the drivers fucking up? I bought the huion 610 as an alternative for my intuos 4 XL. I just reinstalled my pc and haven't had time to set up my tablets yet but When I tried to install the drivers for the Huion I had to uninstall my wacom drivers for it to work.…
