don't use that tutorial. it's outdated and contains incorrect information. this one isn't as basic though it contains a lot better information: http://cg.tutsplus.com/tutorials/autodesk-3ds-max/project-workflow-creating-a-next-gen-sci-fi-prop-day-2/
This asset is not very good. I highly suggest you take a look at the eat3d Dozer tutorial series located here: http://eat3d.com/dozer_part1 Anything I can say critique-wise can be explained in much greater detail in those tutorials.
I was actually just mindlessly following a tutorial since the tutorial said to just use it lol. But for my purposes turns out I don't need one. Thanks for the help everyone. I'm sure i'll be back with another question soon lol
Sorry i'm a bit out of the main discussion probably, but i've tried to open your UDK basic tutorials, and of 4 tutorials it always opens the number 2...i'm not sure it's a problem of wrong link or something else, but you might want to check it :)
Thanks for the video tutorial link Joost! But I need a sphere EQ, sounds great but to be honest didn't quite understand the workflow.. Could you please explain that sphere baking procedure as a step by step guide or may be there are tutorials on this theme? Thanks a lot!
Similar to Xendance's link, but in a little more simplified of a tutorial: http://danhaddad.wordpress.com/2011/04/08/unrealscript-gamestate-save-tutorial/ Alternatively, config files can be used for simple stuff, but the game state file would probably serve you better.
Cheers. Any ideas for further tutorials that could be useful? I was maybe thinking of doing one with Marvelous Designer next as the organic cloth stuff compliments the hard surface quite well and there aren't that many Marvelous Designer tutorials for game characters out there.
If you head to Autodesk's Area, they have a bunch of tutorials for Softimage. You can find a bunch at http://www.i3dtutorials.com/view/Tutorials too. As for reference models, you should be able to use a mdl decompiler to get the smd, which you can then import.
Good start would be to check out this tutorial: http://unity3d.com/support/resources/tutorials/fpstutorial.html If i remember right, all those assets are free to use, even commercially in your own projects. Remember to google too and search from youtube..
That hydrant looks exactly like the one created in Ben Tate's tutorial herehttp://cg.tutsplus.com/tutorials/autodesk-3d-studio-max/model-a-detailed-high-poly-fire-hydrant-in-3ds-max/ Is that the case? If so you might want to consider removing it.
