You could create a shelf button to set the default camera attributes that you can use manually. Or use a usersetup.mel with a scriptJob to do it automatically, something like: string $doCameraStuff = "do camera stuff here"; scriptJob -e "NewSceneOpened" $doCameraStuff;

I'm not sure if this is exactly what he meant, but if you retopologize, then bring it back into the Voxels room and hit the subdivide button a few times before committing it to voxels, it will smooth out any smaller lumps. I use this techniqque a lot myself.
Did you try this? Make instance-copies of all the sections, overlay them, with all of them selected add an Edit Normals modifier, marquee-select a window around a vertex, press the Average button. Repeat for each vert along the seam.
Sometimes I have the same problem. What I do is draw the edges before deleting the old ones. Or you can use the old split tool: Object mode, SHIFT, right mouse button, Split, Split Polygon Tool.
Oh right, in that case I guess you would use a standard rollout with a button that acts like a querybox but won't lock up max, it will just pop up. LotekK seems to be onto something too. I would probably roll with that =)
Once you have Chivalry installed when you launch it from steam there will be a big "open editor" button. On the second page you can launch their version of UDK directly. There are two very thorough tutorials on the same database as the technical specs.
When you open Dynamask editor you have the option to either paint or use a bitmap (Grungemap) to custom mask out the part of the texture you want. It´s the three buttons at the bottom of Dynamask editor, A brush, an eraser, and a bitmap icon!
Running CS 5.5 over here, and it's not very different from CS5. No problems with the UI whatsoever. Maybe reinstall the Suite to see what happens? My only complaint about the Suite UI is that everything is so small button wise. rob
