What I find astounding is how many gaming news sites initially tried to actually link this to the fans petitioning/bitching... Do spoilt self-important gamers honestly think they have the divine power to dictate a company's game development?
I was initially excited about the prospect of this movie but that's died away somewhat by the cg looking almost identical to RE2's, I'm guessing that's deliberate and would make the die-hard's happy but I'd rather they went all out with visual fidelity.
Ok I just checked again with different heightmaps. The issue was the initial heightmap, it didn't tile perfectly. This wasn't noticable at first glance but was obvious in the generated normalmap. I checked with a perfectly tiled map and of course it works as intended. My fault.
Hey all, small update. I reporjected the initial sculpt on the new basebody and I started to refine her facial volumes. I tried to work with less hard edges, onstead I gave her face a more round areas.
This time, a few Low poly-ish flowers (variations around an initial design), inspired by one from the garden. Done in around 4 hours, played around with re-use of elements and vertex colors. Sketchfab link: https://skfb.ly/6KXWU
Fixed! Using FBX2013 it is broken. Using SBM it works. Initial tests show that exporting the low from max as SBM -> xnormal for bake and then fbx -> udk doesn't work, the normals are jacked up. So after trouble shooting is HAS to be fbx2013.
Ootrick, glad the tutorials were helpful. I really need to create a new series as so many features have been added to the program since I created those initial videos. Sorry don't know anything about batching.
I totally agree with ceebee here, get him to learn the hotbox/marking menus. When you initially start using it,it feels a bit awkward, but once you know where to gesture,it speeds up your workflow quite a bit...
I was initially doing a MFA and I started researching professors with MFA/MA degrees. And it really didn't seem to matter. I think your years of exp is more prestigious (and with some accreditation will count). Ultimately for me the MA was a better fit.
In xnormal is always a good idea to use 'average normals' (in depth explanation in the xnormal read-me - pictures - yay :) ) I don't know if this will really help your initial problem - but you can try using a cage instead. Couldn't hurt... :)
