Are they currently one material? Have you tried defining the two rock parts, and the glass type material as two different materials within a multi-material? So one material will applied to the rock using normal parameters, while the other material will be applied to the glass type material and us the alpha settings.
Yeah spec is really important. If you don't use spec, your normal is pretty much wasted. Also before the days where spec was used in games, you would paint the spec highlights right onto the texture. This would define different material types and make models pop more.
I wouldn't call it bad, it definately works out fine in the game, feels like it is based around timing alot, since blocking is a big part of it, and enemies will block too, so you're blocking and waiting for the right time to strike. I haven't tried anything but sword/shield combo though.
I would say: Define cheap. Cheap I would think would be sub $100, and you're probably looking at an ATI card then. Best "value" gpus: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_value.html ATI 6750 at $90 ATI 5670 at $70 GTS 450 at $110 All decent cards that support dx11.
@BIGTIMEMASTER ahhh man you're right definately isn't supposed to be beautiful! i'll try to break up the forms and add variations since i see now i went a bit too far wwith the anatomy and ended up with 0% body fat lol i appreciate the feedback!!
Its a decent start. Might I suggest taking influence from Warhammer 40k Chaos Space marine weapons, as they have the same theme. At the moment, to me, it looks a little messy. Try defining some of the major forms of the gun. For example, the things wrapped around the stock of the gun. Are those intestines?
Goraaz: Thanks! And I agree; haikai made a good point. Ill define her eyes/eyebrows and reshape the ears (i just quickly blocked in the anatomy of them). Alexis, it was like a revelation once I rounded out the cheeks. And ty to vavavoom and urgaffel for pointing out the head/neck posture.
I tend to always have others work and real world reference on screen to ensure that I'm not going overboard. If you really break it down, similar to what Synaesthesia said, the large shapes are really important and define the overall model. Those are definitely the most important to nail. Then work your way in.
Okay back on topic, just found this : WiFiRemote for the iphone and ipod touch Stores 18 user-defined keyboard shortcuts http://mbpowertools.net/pb/wp_ec7e8f60/wp_ec7e8f60.html Only downside is that it's not per-program. But still, completely enough for say, Photoshop use (even better than photokeys). And no lag whatsoever.
It's nice to see that you are doing thumbnails. I am slightly confused by what's going on in the image with the person next to the spider web. Are those hands or spider legs? You might want to define the shape's base a little better. I like your concept of the gorilla with tree branches and roots as limbs.
