Stock max editor for me with textools for minor functions like linear flatten,on some islands for better packimg. I might be a bit slower than others, but I have no problem unwrapping a 15k+ character in one working day if I get coffee first. -

It's like any other fashion/status item. Hey, I feel the same way about people who buy flashy cars to drive to the grocery store. My car performs the exact same functions as that Ferrari so why would someone pay more? -

Thanks :) Everything was done in Max so far. If you are working with cylindrical shape then play around with Bend modifier (or Path Deform) and use Array (or shift+rotate if your pivot is at the centre) to duplicate and rotate your shapes. Other apps should have similar functions. -

Did you bake in Max? If you baked in another application you may have to invert the green channel. Also Hard edge on UV seams, where you have a uv split, needs to be a smoothing group split. Textools has a function that does this for you. -

Im with Arvell on this one, I always prefer function over form, especially on mobiles where gameplay can be harder to get to grips with, so I like minimal huds that show off the game environment more. That said Im sure it will be awesome either way. -

dont change them, thats not the exact translation but futz isnt a real word :) . its like saying dont fuck with them, or dont mess with them. that capping method is neat but its verging on the side of OCD, the nGon was perfectly functional and would bake exactly the same. -

What sargentcrunch said. If you must UV the highpoly, the approach that I've used is to append the lowpoly as a subtool of the highpoly mesh, subdivide the lowpoly and then use the "project all" function in the subtool menu to get your details from the old highpoly mesh to your new one.
