@finalhart Thanks! I wanted to do a version of it at night and I realised there isn't really anything that would light up in the scene aside from magic orbs above some pots. I've decided to add a little of my own flare to it by adding some pulsing lighting to certain objects and also on your suggestion I've started trying…
Hi Is it possible to use geometry to block light without making it visible. Say you had a scene which had a cutaway of a house and you wanted to show the interior and exterior without the light bleeding from one area to the other. Sorry if this is obvious.
Thanks guys. @Psyk0. Yep. Your right. well spotted. Small update. Lots of little tweaks including changing the eye sockets and broadening the nasal bone. Not really worth uploading the video. Also had a mess about with a skull material for fun. Will be starting on the top part of the spine next. EDIT: does anyone know a…
haha I was right it was Royksopp :) Couple of crits. I think Pripyat scene suffers from blown out lighting. For a deserted scene, it sure looks bright. For the Desert Straggler, you can blend some interesting variations for the ground cause the grass just seems placed there instead of actually growing and belonging in the…
Nice work. The current presentation seems fine for showing off the model and textures; maybe you could play around with a darker scene with the lamp on for more of a secretive mood. Maybe you can throw in a quick floor if you go that route. Just some thoughts. One thing, the text on the book looks a little odd on the…
Hey again everyone, not that I want to dig up an old thread but I don't think its necessary to create a new one for something I had already needed. I am working on relighting my environment still with the feedback I have gotten from GDC. I think I'm on the right track but would love a fresh set of eyes. The originals are…
Li Siegfried > Thanks man! You're right, I wanted to do something sexier too, maybe there are just too many armored parts, the outfit isn't light enough for a succubus.. I'll try to make it look better on the final illustration! A small update for now, I am SO late >< I think I might go for the first colored one, I prefer…
I feel that your dirt texture would benefit from having less pebbles/rocks. Right now there are so many that they are distracting so it seems like a mix between a dirt and a gravel texture. Some of the rocks are also feel like they are transparent overlays since the brown is almost a mix between the bright/white rocks and…
Doing some work right now and they want the same thing, though not sci-fi. Solution I found was to just throw on some twists, tapers (taper at the top) and bends. Make sure the model is sufficiently tessellated. Spherify might work well too, just experiment, see what modifiers work well for the buildings you're making,…
No problem, I've actually never really done any texturing but I've seen enough of other people's stuff here over the years. :) One other thing I forgot to mention (and forgot to illustrate in my paintover) - try not to make the whites of his eyes so "white", his eyes as a whole are all reading pretty bright right now,…
