i think the video card should be around 600-800 usd? You're paying more for the processor and how all that goodness fits into a notebook.. or brick. the thing is huge.
While I'm all for LCDs, most artists who work a lot with color will tell you to get a CRT. Anyway, I have a pair of Sony 17" LCDs and they've served me well for over two years now. I think my contrast is 600:1 and response time (the refresh rate) is 16ns. The only downside is that they're analog monitors with no DVI…
I got an Asus laptop that while it might not be a "beast" it can model in Zbrush and Maya just fine and run games like Bad Company 2 pretty well. It cost me $600 on Craigslist. Like EQ said, save the money for a beast desktop so you can use that processing power to run a super high resolution monitor.
I didn't do much sculpting on the 12wx while I had it, but I loved it. The screen was too small for me personally, but after sculpting on a cintiq I haven't been able to go back. but, I've had no reason to even try to go back. it feels so natural. also; I'd check ebay. You can find 12wx's practically new for 600-700.
Heya Raul, im a big fan of yours (you ever seen Zombieland, when Woody Harrelson meets Bill Murray and he's like "BILL FUCKING MURRAY" I kinda have that whole thing going on atm) so thanks for taking a look at my work. Id have to say that this is where my mind set is at the moment in regards to the polycounts, I have…
Well first off, I use Canon, so my recommendations will be based off of that. Nikon and Pentax make great cameras and have pretty equivalent systems, generally when i was researching my camera, I found Canon had better image quality and less noise at the same price point as other systems. Also canon EF lenses are very…
[ QUOTE ] I tried the projector for a while... got one free from work's trash. I made my own screen, which gave me a 95" wide screen (don't know the diag measurement). I liked it, but it got washed out easily by other light sources. It didn't work out very well for my living room since I have a huge front window. It died…
t4paN and Johny, my condolences for your loss. Me and my girlfriend of 8+ years live with 2 cats and I certainly know what it's like to be attached to your pets. They are like our kids to us. My male cat was almost put to sleep due to a spinal injury that almost left him completely paralyzed. I refused to let him die and…
Pretty much. Taking 3D out of the equation though, I'd rather have 60fps and scaled down graphics over 30fps any day of the week. Because quite simply, it offers a gameplay experience that 30fps doesn't, I love the fluidity, responsive etc that 60fps offers. I tend to enjoy 60fps games considerably more than 30fps games.…
