[Maya] Braided Cable Tut (again 600mb vid for 20 minutes, meh) Posted this couple days ago in Hardsurface FAQ. Same principle just make the boxes set broader and less of them width wise. it will at least give you a starting point. Of course the easier way to fake it is just use two helix's.
My boss had a huge case of carpal tunnel when he was younger, he said he had to pretty much stop doing any programming for about 6 months. He said it was because he used to type in such weird and awkward positions. I think the most important thing is having a chair with an arm rest so your elbow is at the same height as…
I would also like to specify the settings I used in Mental Ray as it's one of the crucial steps... I used raytrace shadows with default settings. I used 600 rays for final gathering. I used adaptive sampling with min sample at 1 and max sample level at 3 Other tabs under ray tracing was turned off or to low settings (i.e…
Sonic, 5 games don't make the "majority". There are plenty of SLI optimized games. Most of the games are 30-60fps higher in most cases, and with further optimiations and drivers, they will be even higher. In particular, look at the score differances when you are using high AA and AF - the SLI framerate is nearly double…
It seems to work better on my mac than the PC version. This is my updated process after showing peopl at work: 1. Use Optimize in max to rip out the unnecessary detail from the high poly - a tip I got for Ror. I saved this as mid poly.obj. (My high poly legs went from 1/2 million polygons to about 60,000) 2. I took a set…
Well I'm hoping it turns out well, as it'd be cool to test models/textures, etc. in id's new engine. :D My only question is, how are they going to get Rage to run at 60fps on consoles and still look good? I'm not saying they can't, I'm just sorta nervous about that. :)
Last week, Intel slashed their prices by 33%. For me, that was the line. I wasn't willing to pay $600, but it seems worthwhile at $369. (I'm on a laptop, though, so RAID wasn't an option.)
wow, finally they explain why their envs look extremely crappy! After spending 1000 drawcalls and 600.000 tris on characters there was simply nothing left for envs.
I have the same setup, and I have to constantly press "Control +R" to toggle the ruler on and off to temporarily fix the lag. Works for a good minute or so before toggling it again. The perfect solution for a $600+ piece of software.
