Clay Buildup brush is great for stuff like this, better than the Standard brush. Everything feels very busy & uniform. My eye can't find a good place to rest. I think you would benefit by making some of the areas more solid. Either plastered, or made from single, larger stones. Things like the window sills wouldn't be made up of multiple small stones. -
Diorama Quixel Test
Wanted to try out Quixel Suite 2 so I decided to make a small indoors environment with some basic materials like wood, stone, plaster and metal. I can't wait to make something new with this awesome tool, I still have a lot to learn about PBR and Quixel but that'll be for the next project! Any feedback is welcome. -

I don't love the wood pieces stuck on the wall below the roof piece. It doesn't look right to me. Maybe make that a different sort of plaster or something? Also, I think that some good weathering and grunge would make this piece pop out really well. Right now it's a little uniform in coloration and lighting. -

i know its meant to be beaconsfield but... i would like to see the brickwork plastered over and painted magnolia/white. Alot of London pubs now are turniung into bars unless you're in the East end. I think it would look tons better, give it that 'Notting Hill' look, quite a quick job also, try it out. -

yeah, the concept makes it look like its made out of some sort of chipping stucco or something. Agreeing with the ceramic tiles as well. Right now it's looking like a rough concrete, or what should be beneath the plaster. I do like the wood texture so far though, nice variation and it sells the idea well. -

Did some preliminary bakes, finished the base sculpt for this piece. Also tested some of the modular components in Maya. Behind the wood squares will be broken concrete and thick plaster which will be a tiling texture, with vertex painting between the two. I also want everything to be vertex paintable so I can layer on… -

Yay! that last one just makes me smile For whatever reason, the first thing I thought when I saw detailing along the head-peice is that this guy let Shepard Fairey plaster a mural on his suit. which could be 8 levels of awesome :D I'm glad this thread is back up and running :thumbup: -

sometimes i think its like games where a feature like bloom, CA and so on gets plastered everywhere, then gradually the novelty wears off and folks start getting a better idea of when they are appropriate. the film industry is getting alot of freedom and needs to grow into it. I think thats why TV is doing a more seamless…
