its getting 1 signature every second now. i predict it will be at 186 400 signatures in 24 hours, and if it keeps up, within 1 week it'll be about 600 000 signatures.
yeah i would definitely never waste as much as 1/4 of a texture space. even 1/8 seems like a waste to me, but i've always been a sucker for maximum optimisation :)
Don't need to do this since it would only make since if you were going to unwrap a 1-1 UV and normal map it, but you'd just want to use tiling textures.
When stitching 1 to 2, sometimes you need to stitch 2 to 1. <---(Ancient proverb? LoL) If that doesn't work you can target weld the points, but that's a lot more clicking.
the uv shell of the second object just needs to start where the otherone ends (or with an exact offset of 1 or 1/repetitions in v of your texture). so align them and you are done.
Also if you did not know, 1 unit in UDK = 1 unit in Maya, assuming you have defaults on. A character in UDK is 36x36x96 so I use that as my reference personally.

so this dude is done, next up are 2 variations for him, 1 damaged, 1 overpowered. also put all the stuff into the engine and so far and everything performs pretty good.
