Not a terribly useful reply, but a chamfered cube still needs UVs and those introduce splits, so depending on how you map it approaches 40 verts. I play when I can, but considering how much I work (40 hrs a week at Turbine plus misc. freelance projects) it's hard to get it in. I guess I could chose to not date or not hang out with people and replace it with games or even more art, but that causes problems on it's own. I do eventually get around to spurts where I can… -

To save on texture space you can stack islands after you bake. For example: the back and front, and left and right will never be seen at the same time so you can put them in the exact same location in uv space. This will gain 30-40% texel density. If you stack those islands and move them across to the right 1 unit before… -

Intel processors still kill AMD processors in power consumption and single core performance. they use typically about half the power and score ~40% higher in single core benchmarks. That's a pretty big difference but yes, you are going to be paying a lot more for not a huge gain many applications. But I'd rather spend more… -
