Woah. They just grabbed the "most realistic clouds" award from crytek. I admit, there's not many nominees, but I think we should have more people competing for this thing I just made up!
I would Deffinately Reccomend subscribing to 3D.sk. You get high res reffs from all the angles and detail shots. TBH its a must have if you plan on doing realistic character work.
Done. General theme of my answers was, No damage is not realistically represented in games. But honestly why would you want it to be. I don't want my game to be a gore themed shock fest every time there's a headshot.
Great attempt at realistic lighting. Environments look super. Weapons look really good too. Suptleties in the way of reflections and dust/haze in those screens are quite impressive. Cant wait to see some footage.
sums up my opinion at the moment. This look works better for a cartoon based game like naruto. the cell shading mixed with semi realistic textures just feels like a quick attempt at a unique look
heh, i know, too phallic? Not really going for realistic, gonna try a cartoony look. think warhammer scenery http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/3/6/1/9/1/0/webimg/149688430_tp.jpg
I understand how difficult it would be to put an equal amount of effort into an objective investigation, but realistically, I've never seen that sort of thing done before. It would be interesting as heck to see it done, if you could.
I've applied all of the normal maps to my assets now to my scene actually looks like its coming along. When I paint the textures, the metalness/spec will go down to realistic levels.
Actually Milkshape isn't the best choise man. A friend told me that with Mudbox or Zbrush you become a really great modeler, ultra detailed models made fast... the more bumps it has, the more realistic!!
Working now, cool. What time period/theme are you going for here? Like, current realistic or back during the wars or even steam punk or whatever? Good start though, just curious about that.
