Hi- I am trying to model this shape on the flashlight. I have made several different attempts, but they all failed. When I succeed getting the hard edges in, it disturbs the rounding of the outside of the cylinder. I can adjust the vetices manually to match the rounding a bit better, but I doubt, that is the right…
A friend of mine sent this to me a few days ago (left) my attempt is on the right. It's basically an object with three sides sliced off in a circular fashion (A), the smaller sections (C) are pretty easy I think . After spending several hours and various approaches i decided to post here. Any take on how to subD model this…
great post as usual Per :) I'm fighting procrastination right now, and your post give me some motivation. I know somebody say this before but I wish there's a subscribe button for all your post btw, is there any specific piece of software that only accept quad ? I remember seeing somewhere that a offline rendering software…
Ive been trying to rap my brain around how I am going to this cut but can't figure out how I am going to do it. This is my working geo. This is my first shot at hard surfacing so my workflow right now is 1) make the shape with all the bevels, cuts, etc. 2) insert support edges and clean topo Is that an optimal way of…
This is a pretty common kind of problem. I can't mock this one up right now, but you should be able to find plenty of other examples in this very thread- maybe search for the word "offset" or something. The solution is not to subdivide, but rather rotate the cylinder slightly so that its vertical edges are not in line with…
Thanks @perna I can see the wisdom in the advice, but still I struggle in imagining it as a whole piece, escpecially because of the right side. Its asymmetry is what makes it difficult for me. The extrusion on top that seems simple has the two sides also asymmetrical complicating things. Anyway, I managed this with modo…
Hi guys, I'm really struggling getting sharp edges on this model, any advice how to approach it, I keep getting in a mess and nothing flows correctly, just can't get the loops right. Maybe I've roughed out the shape wrong...dunno, but It's got me befuddled. Any advice would be appreciated, I have someone waiting for the…
Here's what Ive been doing: I modeled the wing from the top orthographic view so I can get the cuves right and add loop cuts. Then I select each half loop and move it to the top or bottom one by one. However, the airfoil is as rough as rock. The process isn't finished yet as I still need to move the bottom ones and some of…
Hi Again! I continued practicing with some photobash reference images and came across a landing gear. This one part is turning out to be really difficult. I tried two methods. The first was making a side view first and then manually moving edges to create the curvature and the second time i tried to do it with boolean. But…
Why don't you Give the mesh a material then set the Wireframe colour from the little colour box next to the mesh name (top right of step 3) and press f4? Then you dont need to constantly add or remove meshes, the colour and material of the mesh is controlled with the material and the wireframe colour is controlled from…
