Hey there! My first post here  I've been working on this for some time and I'd like to show this to you. This thread has been a great source of inspiration for me and there is truly some really impressive work here. I hope this fits the thread :) I will be expanding upon this environment a lot in the coming months…
Hello guys, great work everyone. I'm posting here a tribute to Telltale's The Walking Dead series I just finished. It was my first try at this specific handpainted style. Was really fun to do. I would appreciate criticism on it, if you have a few seconds for it. I also posted it in WAYWO and in my own thread, so I'm just…
Demonith: I don't quite understand your questions. As far as the texture resolution is concerned, you pick an image size in Photoshop, or whatever app you use, and use it to paint the texture. Depending on the tool, you should be able to select parts of the model and/or texture map and just paint them instead of affecting…
I'd say the shadow color you have right now is kind of weird.. did you also play around with the roughness? It looks like your black get's completely washed out by the specularity. When I'd paint a rock.. I'd do at least 2-3 layers of shadow. 1 for the very deep and dark parts and another in between gradient to the base…
Hi Everyone I just finished a hand painted Bomb Thrower for one of my assignments. I tried to work in the same style as WoW but I noticed I was struggling quite a bit with the metal. My metal is a bit more realistic then the more rough and stylized way in WoW and I just couldn't get it right. Does anyone have any…
Thank you for the kind words. I have a question: With MechKnight, we're shooting for a very 'graphic art', '2d illustrative' look. Although, recently, we've been experimenting with a more complex look to stand out a bit from the crowd and build a unique look for the game. (never mind the environment art just the character…
Hello Polycount! I've been following this thread for a while now since I've been trying to get better at handpainting textures. This has helped me alot but at the moment I'm struggling abit.. Until this moment I haven't found the courage to make a post here (people are so good...) but now it's time! So this is a…
Hey there, Jesse! It looks like you're using a soft brush which makes the wood look kind of mushy. And there isn't a defined lightsource so it looks a bit odd. Hopefully this isn't out of order, it was probably as helpful for myself as it will be for you, but I did a quick paintover which will hopefully help you with…
Hello Jose. First off, I guess that's just a test texture, since it's not tiling, correct? A few things you could improve are: * Color variations on each single stone. At the moment you're having diffrent stones of diffrent solid colors.Try to mix at least a little variation into each single stone. (Which doesn't mean that…
