Hi, if you are using 3ds Max, you can give these materials a try. They are good for showing high-poly models and their wireframes and give fine results with untextured and normal mapped low-poly too. If you're just building the lowpoly cage in Max, why not export the 2nd or 3rd subdivision level instead of level 4? It should give you enough silhouette detail to work with. try to make each face more like a square instead of a stretched just sliced rectangle. You did not tweaked much other than the 45° outer edges - but not within the shape itself. Depending on your 3d app you should have an option for instance to constrain along or on faces or edges. WIth that you could better shift vertices… -
