I was planning to pose the character in zbrush once I get the final look down. How do the clothes look toylike? I was trying to go for a stylized fantasy look, not replicate the materials realistically
Blizzard's style is over the top, so I find natural that his muscles are exagerated even though this is a more realistic piece. On top of that, I think this is gonna rock. Armor blocking seems great.
I'd guess there's probably 10 mobile studios doing stylized art for every realistic studio. There's also the trend that MOBA's = stylized art and everyone is making MOBAs now, it's sort of a second golden age.
Not dead, just distracted but enough of that. Started playing around with some hand painted realistic concrete textures, testing out how to make it look painted on and did some sculpting and bases for other things.
If it doesn't cover your head like a melon/mushroom, I think it looks ok, no ?? I mean, it's been done a lot in videogames and comic. But I wonder if it would work in a more realistic style ?
Can i use realistic way on Character section? or it must be handpainted like in game model? We are looking for stylized characters and environments for this competition. That means no normal maps and hand painted diffuse textures.
I think the reason why they look weird is that they're a bit over the top. It's very easy to get into the uncanny valley with realistic characters. When it's more stylized, it's harder to get them to look weird :)
Seems fun, I'm in! First Noob Challenge for me. Im not going to do this hand painted, on the contrary, I'll try to make it "realistic" looking. Haven't decided if I'm using UDK or Cryengine yet.
This looks great but the choice of a pretty gritty realistic finish for the horn texture looks a bit off compared to the style of the sculpt, it's perhaps hard to tell atm since the rest doesn't have any color.
