I'd say the biggest problem is that everything is overly smoothed, and looks as though a lot of the detail are constructed from the same mesh(i.e. the wraps on the handle) You should try to model closer to how it might be constructed in reality. Nevermind I got it. For anyone else having this problem what you do is you start drawing the curve then hold shift for it to wrap around the model. I inserted this low poly version and placed an edge loop. When you do that I noticed the curve focuses on the edge of the polygroup and wraps perfectly. Also, the more… -

Duplicate your model. Do all the changes you want. Use Skin Wrap to rebuild the morphs. Then use Skin Wrap to transfer the skinning with the "Convert To Skin" button. Sure man, what comes around goes around. Kind of the same limits for both methods. Like Professor420 said for Skin Wrap, Skin Util is also limited to similar positions for pre- and post- meshes.
