Hi there, I will like to add a modifier (uvw mapping) to a bunch of objects but I dont want the modifier to be applied to the group but to each object independently. Is there a way to do this? Thanks for your help!
Is it possible to smooth by smoothing groups with the Opensubdiv modifier in 3ds max. I know the third party Turbosmooth_Pro modifier has this option. For OpenSubdiv you seem to have to use crease sets or the crease sets modifier which is cumbersome if you just want to smooth by smoothing groups. Using the Turbosmooth…
Another nice trick in Max is to use instanced modifiers. Select all the Editable Poly models (with no modifier stacks, just to keep it clean though, not a strict requirement) and add an Edit Poly modifier, and a Turbosmooth modifier. Now you can edit individually or altogether using that Edit Poly. You can also Collapse To…
An even easier method, just found it in Blender's manual :) DataTransfer modifier is SO powerful! vertex colors, normals... https://www.blender.org/manual/modifiers/modify/data_transfer.html
if (selection.count >= 1) and (selection[1].modifiers[#MeshSmooth] != undefined) then selection[1].modifiers[#MeshSmooth].enabled = not selection[1].modifiers[#MeshSmooth].enabled I'll let Slum come up with the macro name, but that should be all the code required to toggle the modifier on and off.
Open subdiv does not support smoothing groups as input. I would like to use MatID or Smoothing groups as input and output selected edges or creases. I want to use the Data Channel modifier to convert manual created smoothing groups to creases and use those as input for the Open subdiv Modifier. Is this possible with the…
I like to use edge weights in the editable poly sub object to drive chamfer modifiers and then I add a turbosmooth on top of everything. Also if you add an empty crease set modifier before your chamfer modifiers you get a nice preview while modeling.
